Seniora’s Drum Circle Workshop + Chair Exercise proved one thing clearly — active ageing is not just about staying physically active, but staying socially connected, emotionally engaged, and joyfully involved.
On 26 May 2026, Seniora welcomed more than 20 enthusiastic participants to our Drum Circle Workshop + Chair Exercise session at IOI Mall Damansara. What started as a simple community activity quickly transformed into an afternoon filled with laughter, rhythm, movement, and new friendships.

Why Drum Circle Activities Matter for Seniors
As Malaysia moves towards an ageing population, many families are looking for activities that promote:
Healthy ageing
Dementia prevention
Social interaction for seniors
Safe physical exercise
Emotional wellbeing
Drum circles are increasingly recognised as a meaningful activity because they combine music therapy, cognitive stimulation, social interaction, and physical movement simultaneously.
Unlike traditional exercise sessions, drum circles encourage participation regardless of fitness level or musical experience.
No musical background? No problem.
Our participants quickly discovered that rhythm is something everyone can enjoy.
A Unique Combination: Drum Circle + Chair Exercise
Many senior activities focus only on either physical exercise or social engagement.
This workshop combined both.
Participants enjoyed:
🥁 Interactive drum circle sessions
💪 Gentle chair exercises suitable for various mobility levels
😊 Group participation and social bonding
🧠 Cognitive stimulation through rhythm and coordination activities
🎁 Complimentary goodies provided by our supporting partners
The combination created an environment where participants were not simply “attending an activity” — they were actively engaging, laughing, learning, and connecting.

The Energy in the Room Was Incredible
From the moment the first drums started beating, the atmosphere changed.
Participants who initially appeared shy slowly became more engaged.
Friends encouraged one another.
Laughter became louder.
Rhythms became stronger.
Many participants shared that they had:
Never tried drumming before
Did not expect chair exercise to be enjoyable
Wanted similar activities again in the future
Enjoyed meeting new friends
What made the event especially meaningful was seeing participants continue chatting even after the session officially ended.
Because sometimes, healthy ageing starts with simple human connection.

More Than 20 Participants Joined Us — and Every Seat Was Worth It
We initially opened limited slots to ensure a quality experience.
The response exceeded expectations.
With more than 20 participants joining, this reinforces something we strongly believe:
There is a growing demand for meaningful, affordable, community-based senior activities in Malaysia.
Older adults do not simply need care.
They need purpose.
They need community.
They need opportunities to continue experiencing joy.
Thank You to Our Supporting Partners
This event would not have been possible without the support from our partners and collaborators.
Thank you for believing in creating better ageing experiences for our seniors.
Most importantly —
Thank you to every participant and family member who trusted Seniora.
Your smiles, laughter, and energy were what made this event successful.
