Seniora Takes the Stage in Nanning: Malaysia's Active Ageing Leader at the 2026 ASEAN-China Silver Economy Forum
From Taiping to Nanning — that's the journey Seniora made this September, carrying Malaysia's active ageing story onto an international stage.

On 18 September 2026, the 2026 ASEAN-Oriented AI Empowering High-Quality Development of the Silver Economy Forum was held at the Nanning International Convention and Exhibition Center in Guangxi, China, as part of the 23rd China-ASEAN Expo. Hosted by the Department of Commerce of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, the Development and Reform Commission of Guangxi, and the Department of Civil Affairs of Guangxi, and organised by the Beijing Jinghe Culture and Tourism Development Institute (JICT) together with the ASEAN-China Silver Economy Development Research Center (ACSEC), the forum brought together roughly 300 government, business and academic representatives from across China and ASEAN — all focused on one theme: "Policy-Driven, Industry-Integrated — Co-Creating a New Blue Ocean for the AI-Enabled Silver Economy."

Representing Malaysia's private elder care sector was Seniora, the country's first Montessori-certified dementia and elder care brand and a leader in active ageing.
Why Seniora Was in the Room
Seniora was founded in 2021 on a simple but under-served idea for Malaysia: ageing well shouldn't start only when a family reaches crisis point. Built around three pillars — Active Ageing, Ageing in Community, and Ageing in Place — Seniora was one of the first Malaysian brands to put prevention, cognitive stimulation and daily engagement at the centre of eldercare, rather than treating institutional care as the default once frailty sets in.
That positioning — a pharmacist-led, clinically grounded, community-based model of care spanning Elder Day Care Centres, Home Care, Medical Escort and Companionship, and Active Ageing programmes across Taiping, Penang and Johor Bahru — is exactly the kind of replicable, AI-adjacent, prevention-first model that ASEAN's silver economy policymakers are now actively looking for.

On the Forum Floor
Seniora took part in two ways:
An 8-minute speaking slot on the main forum stage, where the Seniora team shared Malaysia's demographic realities, the cultural gap between "ageing at home" and "ageing in an institution," and how Seniora's active ageing model bridges that gap cost-effectively.

An exhibition booth, complete with a branded backdrop corner printed by the organising committee, where forum delegates could see Seniora's work up close and speak directly with the team.

It was a fitting stage: the same forum session saw the official release of the China-ASEAN Silver Economy Blue Book, the region's first blue book systematically mapping silver economy development across China and all 11 ASEAN member states — alongside the launch of the China-ASEAN Silver Industry Standards Initiative and the Global Silver Economy Application Center.

Seniora left with a copy of the Blue Book, gifted by the organising committee — a fitting keepsake from a forum built around exactly the cross-border standards and cooperation conversation Seniora came to be part of.

More Than a Speaking Slot — A Relationship-Building Platform
For Seniora, the real value of Nanning wasn't the 8 minutes on stage. It was the conversations before and after — with Chinese enterprises, ASEAN delegations, investment institutions and research bodies like ACSEC, all exploring how active ageing models can travel across borders. The forum's format, deliberately structured around policy dialogue, achievement releases, AI empowerment, cross-border cooperation and business matchmaking, created exactly the kind of environment where a Malaysian brand with a working, community-tested model can start meaningful, longer-term conversations about regional collaboration.

That's the story Seniora brought home: not just "we presented," but "we planted the first seeds of what active ageing partnership across ASEAN and China could look like."
Looking Ahead
As Malaysia's population ages and regional silver economy cooperation accelerates, Seniora's presence in Nanning marks an important milestone — proof that a homegrown, prevention-first eldercare brand can hold its own on an international platform built around AI, policy and cross-border industry. It's a signal of where Seniora is headed: from four branches across Taiping, Penang and Johor Bahru today, toward a bigger role in shaping how Southeast Asia ages, together.
